Abstract: Virginia Woolf is not only a famous English woman writer in the 20th century, but also an important stream of consciousness novelist. As the first to win her a large reading public, her fifth novel To the Lighthouse was greeted with a chorus of praise. This paper mainly sets off an analysis of skills of stream of consciousness in the novel, such as time montage, transition of scene, and so on. These skills make it possible for her to use the techniques in writing novels of stream of consciousness, help her to create her writing style, and facilitate effectiveness in displaying the themes of her novels.
